United States of America Volleyball Is a Key Ally

An agreement has been made by Olympian Bethania de la Cruz of the Dominican Republic to play volleyball for Athletes Unlimited.

De La Cruz, an outside hitter for the Dominican Republic, has guided her team to victory at the last four major Pan American tournaments (2019 Pan American Games, 2009 and 2019 NORCECA Championships, 2008 and 2016 Pan American Cup) in a row.

She won the Most Valuable Player award and the Best Outside Hitter award at the 2019 Pan American Games, and the Best Server award, the Most Valuable Player award, and the Best Outside Hitter award at the 2019 NORCECA Championships.

Having played professionally in Korea, Japan, Italy, Turkey, and most recently Russia, where she was named best server in the Russian Superleague for the 2019-20 season, De La Cruz has a wealth of experience in the world’s greatest competitions.

Athletes Unlimited Volleyball is a group of the best volleyball players in the world, including Olympic medalists, current and former members of national teams, and top-tier professionals and college grads. USA Volleyball is a strategic partner of this group.

From February 26th to April 4th, 2021, De La Cruz will be one of 44 players competing in the only women’s professional indoor volleyball league in the United States. Among those 44 players will be eight Olympians.

I’m looking forward to this league because learning something new excites me, as De La Cruz put it. In my opinion, playing in the American league will serve as excellent training for the upcoming summer’s international and Olympic tournaments with my national team.

It’s a Different Format than I’m Used to, but I’m Confident we’ll have a Great Season.

I have a lot of respect for the American players, and I know I’ll learn a lot from competing alongside them.

“The acquisition of Bethania indicates that our Athletes Unlimited concept and player experience is attractive to some of the most accomplished names in volleyball,” stated Jon Patricof, Co-Founder and CEO of Athletes Unlimited.

Our February 2019 tournament will include the top volleyball players in the world.
