The third and final round of Asian qualifying for the 2022 World Cup will take place between September 2, 2021, and March 29, 2022.

On September 7 they will host Australia; on November 11 they will host Japan; on November 16 they will host Arab Saudi; on February 1, 2022 they will host China; and on March 24, 2022 they will host Oman.

September 2nd, October 7th, October 12th, January 27th, and March 29th, 2022 are the dates set for the five away games.

In order to hold games sanctioned by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), prospective host nations must guarantee that visiting teams won’t be quarantined or isolated for more than two days.

Parallel to this, Vietnam, like many other nations (including Australia and China), mandates a 14-21 day quarantine.

Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Secretary General Le Hoai Anh said that the AFC’s “biomedical bubble” mandates match operation policy against Covid-19, and that both teams must adhere to this protocol. With this rule in place, players are prohibited from making any kind of outside contact.

The National Standing Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control mandates vaccination for all personnel involved in home-field hospitality and serving.

He noted that fans would be present in Hanoi for the matches despite the country’s pandemic scenario, saying, “Conditions for arranging the matches fully depend on the host country and the pandemic situation in that country.”

Conclusion

Following a vote by the AFC, a video assistant referee (VAR) who can review the decisions of the head referee using video footage and a headset for communication will be present at all matches in the third round of the World Cup Asian Qualifications.

For the first time ever, Vietnam has made it to the World Cup Qualifications’ final round. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised it on July 13.
